The 8th Annual Rio Linda Elverta Christmas Light Parade will take place on Saturday, December 9th at 6 p.m. on M Street in Scenic & Beautiful Downtown Rio Linda.
The Christmas Light Parade is just the tree-topper on a day of events kicking off the holiday season in the Rio Linda and Elverta community.
Free Breakfast with Santa
The Rio Linda Elverta Recreation and Park District is hosting Breakfast with Santa in association with the Rio Linda Elverta Country Lions Club. This is a free event for the community. Breakfast will be provided, along with pictures with Santa and arts & crafts. This is scheduled for 8 am to noon.
Christmas Bazaar
Also taking place on parade day is another event that has become a tradition in the community… The 3rd Annual Christmas Bazaar. After the rain last year saw the event moved to Rio Linda High School, they have decided to remain there with much more space for the 75 local vendors. The Bazaar begins at 9 am and ends at 4, in plenty of time to get down to M Street for the parade.

Santa at the Klip Joint
Bring the kids out to the Klip Joint on Front Street to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Bring your camera and your list, snap some photos, and enjoy some holiday treats with the Klip Joint family from 1 to 3 at the Klip Joint, 6752 Front St in Rio Linda.
8th Annual Rio Linda Elverta Christmas Light Parade
According to the Rio Linda Elverta Country Faire website, Cars, trucks, trailers, horses, and of course SANTA will all be there to spread some cheer! We will kick off the parade at 6 p.m. with the lighting of the Community Christmas tree at Troy Graham Park. (Next to the judge’s stand).
The parade route will start at West 2nd Street, traveling along M Street, and ending at Curved Bridge Rd.
The entry form for participants can be found here at the Country Faire website. The entry fee is $20.
There are also sign-up forms for Barricade Set Up/Take Down Volunteers, Parade Check-in Volunteers, and -very- limited opportunities to sponsor the parade and help beautify the community for the holidays by sponsoring a light pole decoration.
All of those sign-up forms can be found here.
To be clear, we are in desperate need of volunteers!
This year’s judges will be newly minted Honorary Mayor Katherine Shermer, former Mayor Tommy Hall, and Parks and Rec Board Member Charlea Moore.
This year, A-1 Storage in Rio Linda has sponsored our cash prizes, as judged by our parade officials:
- 1st Place – $300
- 2nd Place – $200
- 3rd Place – $100
After the parade, why not hang around in Downtown Rio Linda and enjoy the All-New Rio Pub? Located right there on Front Street just behind the announcer and judges stand, Rio Pub will have live music from 9-10:30 for our post-parade fun, to go along with hot chocolate, holiday cocktails, and good fun. We’ll be there, so stop by and enjoy the season with us!
