Organizers Cancel Annual Creek Clean-Up and Celebration To Help Thwart Potential COVID-19 Exposure
With the quickly changing information as well as the newly announced directives surrounding the COVID-19 coronavirus, the Sacramento Area Creeks Council along with Creek Week planning committee decided on March 16 that the most responsible action to help prevent community spread of COVID-19 was to cancel the April 9 – 18, 2020 Creek Week activities – including the annual cleanup and celebration. Regretfully, this year’s event is canceled.
We thank our sponsors whose financial contributions, in-kind goods and services, and indispensable volunteers are what allow us to provide such a wonderful event year-after-year.
Additionally, we appreciate your continued support and look forward to having you join us next time to make Creek Week better than ever!
Everyone can stay involved by checking out our website at creekweek.net for ways to take action year-round to protect our creeks and rivers. We can all make a difference by practicing random acts of cleanup—by picking up one extra piece of trash each day, the results can be profound and far-reaching.
We encourage everyone to get outside for fresh air and healthy sun while maintaining physical distancing.
We are all in this together. Stay healthy!
