A: Tommy Gene Daniels, 49, remains in Sacramento County Jail in lieu of $4.5 million bail. He is charged with committing lewd or lascivious acts with children under the age of 14, and according to Sacramento County Superior Court online records, his trial is to begin Oct. 27.
Daniels, a Citrus Heights resident and senior pastor of First Baptist Church of Rio Linda, was arrested Dec. 9 of last year. He and his wife had been employed as foster parents and day-care providers.
The alleged acts took place between 2002 and 2007 and involved girls ranging from 5 to 13 years old, according to court papers and testimony. Daniels has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
