At a special town hall meeting on June 11, 2012, the Rio Linda Grange and Rio Linda Visions Task Force hosted a workshop to gather ideas on the restoration of the Rio Linda Archway.

There were many ideas suggested by the attendees.

Overall, the community wants to maintain the current look while refurbishing the Archway to allow this icon to better represent Rio Linda and the community. The pillars need to be repaired and painted and the Arch itself needs to be inspected for rust or damage and then repainted.

One idea was to restore the American Flag on the top of the cupola but there were concerns about keeping the flag in good condition and the expense of replacing it when it became weathered.

Another idea was to have a metal flag which would last much longer and not require as much maintenance. There was also a suggestion to add globes or balls to the top of each of the four pole and perhaps have lights directed at the flag.

The public did feel that the Archway is a symbol of Rio Linda and should not be overtly changed.
