Happy Friday RLHS Families,
The below is a copy of an email that was sent by Kimberly Hellwig (Co-Chair of KORT and proud parent of Junior Class President Amanda Hellwig) wrote to all KORT parents informing and encouraging them to participate in this weekend’s activities. This is an example of Parent Involvement and Parent Leadership at its best:
Some fun weekend events happening in Rio Linda this weekend! If you have time, go have fun while supporting our RLHS and community! 🙂
FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS!
The Rio Linda Knights take on the Foothill Mustangs this Friday at home. Come out and support JV at 5:00pm and your undefeated Varsity team at 7:00pm!
SATURDAY – BASEBALL, WATER POLO & TENNIS!
RLHS Baseball:
The RLHS Home Run Club is putting on its 2nd Annual Car Show this Saturday from 9am – 3pm. If you want to enter a car, I have attached the form. If you love cars, the RLHS Baseball Field is the place to be this Saturday. This year’s event is already proving to be better than last, with many more cars registered, more vendors, lots of food, and plenty of fun activities for the kids! Show your support for RLHS Knight Baseball Team and check out this event!
Sierra Tournament – Girls Water Polo Team:
The RLHS Girls Water Polo Team is hosting the Sierra Tournament. Last weekend the Boys hosted the same tournament, which was a great success! If you want to help in the snack bar, or just want to enjoy some great water polo and grab a hot dog, the event starts at 7:30am! Support your RLHS Girls Water Polo!!
Girls Tennis – Car Wash:
The RLHS Girls Tennis Team is raising money for uniforms and equipment by holding a car wash this Saturday at the RLHS Football Stadium. While you’re checking out the Car Show, Water Polo Tournament, or having a relaxing morning after the big game Friday night – go get your car washed!
Have a fun and safe weekend! Hope you have an opportunity to enjoy some of these events! 🙂
First, we should celebrate that parents are inviting and encouraging other parents to get involved. We should also celebrate that we have such involved parents and Mr. and Mrs. Hellwig and Mr. and Mrs. Anderson who are leading our KORT Parent Involvement Committee. Next, we should celebrate the many activities that our students are privileged to enjoy. Each of these activities is only possible through the collaboration of parents, students and staff.
Our football game at Center High on Friday, September 21 was nominated for KCRA’s game of the week. If chosen, the game would have television highlights including a school showcase. The voting closes on Wednesday, September 19. Currently we are a small percentage behind one other game and we need your votes to win. Please click on the following attachment and VOTE! http://livewire.kcra.com/Event/High_School_Playbook_-_Games__Polls
You should have received your student’s CST scores in the mail from our District Office. Please take some time to review this learning information with your student. Mr. Emerson (Student Learning Coach) and Mrs. Walden (Health Teacher) are reviewing CST information to determine which students qualify for Golden State Seal Merit Award. Our staff is currently reviewing all learning data as well as many other school effectiveness indicators.
This year’s Homecoming is our school’s 50th! Our Rio Linda community is celebrating its 100th year anniversary. Rio Linda Centennial events are the weekend of October 5-7 and our school’s homecoming festivities are October 8-13. The students are planning a Homecoming Semi-Formal dance for Saturday, October 13. The theme for this year’s homecoming is “Golden Masquerade.” A week of student activities is being planned. We encourage all students to keep their grade point average at 2.0 so they can attend the dance. More information regarding these events will follow as they are confirmed.
