On Monday May 28th 2018, Rio Linda Online (RioLindaOnline.com) was named the Sacramento region’s Best Local News Source by the readers and voters of the Sacramento A-List.
Rio Linda Online also won the Best Local Blogger category in 2016, and ranked 3rd in 2017.
The annual Sacramento A-List competition featured more than 11,816 businesses competing for title of Sacramento’s best. This year, nearly 100,000 votes were cast. Participants were nominated from 13 different Sacramento Valley and Sierra Foothill counties.
Rio Linda Online publisher John Todd said:
“Having been grown and raised in Rio Linda, I knew full well how under-served this community has been by the larger Sacramento area print and broadcast media. The rise of the internet and social media gave me the opening I needed to provide news and information to my community without needing a big budget to print and distribute physical newspapers.
Moving from the blogger category to win the Local News category has been a huge boost for us, and more indication that what we’re doing matters to our community, and has been sorely needed.
Big thanks to all our readers and our sponsors. They are phenomenal and unwavering in their support and it’s appreciated greatly.”
Next year, Rio Linda Online will celebrate ten years of providing local news and information to the people of Rio Linda, Elverta, North Natomas, North Highlands and rural Northern Sacramento, Placer and Sutter Counties.
