On February 9, 2019, The Vida de Oro Foundation gave away over 325 prom dresses to students representing 71 high schools. Now at the request of dozens of students and parents, another prom dress giveaway will be happening on Saturday March 23, 2019.
SACRAMENTO, CA – Having collected over 600 brand new prom dresses from Lulus.com and Quota International of Oroville, the Vida de Oro Foundation held a prom dress giveaway on February 9, 2019, where over 300 students came, tried on and selected a prom dress absolutely free. In total, there were students representing 71 different high schools from as far away as Clovis, Oakland, Corning and Placerville. Although the giveaway wasn’t suppose to start until 10 am, parents and their children were lined up at 8:30 am, even though it was raining and cold.
Since then, the Vida de Oro Foundation has received numerous requests for a repeat giveaway, and through the support of U-HAUL, another one has been planned for Saturday March 23rd from 10 am to 5 pm.
The dresses vary in sizes and will be given away in a first-come-first-served basis. Interested students must have a school student ID card and show up with a parent or legal guardian. No other fee is required.
