Rio Linda, CA–Recapture the sights and sounds of farm life on 145 acres at the 19th Annual Farm and Tractor Days sponsored by the Rio Linda/Elverta Historical Society on two consecutive days.
Festivities begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, May 10, and run through 3 p.m. (School & Youth Day) and continue from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at the Historic Dry Creek Ranch House located at 6852 Dry Creek Road in Rio Linda.
Admission is a $2.00 donation at the gate.
Kids of all ages will enjoy interacting with farm animals and viewing dozens of restored antique and classic tractors, vintage farm equipment, antique farm engines, a restored antique fire truck, and some “farm fresh” (non-restored tractors) of all makes and models. Tractor competitions and demonstrations will be held on both days.
This signature event also features tours of the historical ranch house, vendors, crafts, raffle prizes, and a swap meet. On Saturday, chow down on a Western BBQ while relaxing under 100-year-old oak trees.
Bill Son, show director, and retired harbor master at the Virgin Sturgeon Marina, sums up the event: “Farm and Tractor Days gives people a look back in time—it’s about the history of how farming used to be done and the vital role of tractors and unique farm equipment.”
Both Son and co-director, Bob Hinds, call themselves, “serious collectors of vintage and classic tractors.”
After restoring the pieces to working condition the men, along with fellow tractor enthusiasts, demonstrate how they operate.
“Our event is different because we actually show how the equipment runs. It’s quite a site to see,” said Hinds.
This family-friendly celebration of Sacramento’s rural roots is expected to draw a record crowd of both attendees and tractors from as far away as Oregon and Nevada.
The Rio Linda/Elverta Historical Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the historical heritage of the Rio Linda and Elverta areas.
