Say goodbye to your shaggy lockdown locks. Governor Gavin Newsom today continued to loosen the state’s coronavirus restrictions, singling out hair salons and barbershops specifically.
Newsom announced that 47 of the state’s 58 counties that have qualified to move further into stage 2 of the state’s four-part plan, can reopen hair salons and barbers which have been shuttered since late March. Sacramento County has been approved to continue to move forward in the restarting of their economy, along with Placer, El Dorado and Yolo counties.
“Those counties will begin to allow for those kinds of operations with meaningful modification with the appropriate protective gear.”

The governor stated that the reopening of nail salons and other personal services are still waiting for appropriate guidelines from the legislature in order to reopen.
The county will send updated information on its local health order Tuesday afternoon, reflecting updated guidance from the administration on hair salons, religious gatherings and retail stores.
“We haven’t heard anything from the board, so we’re gonna spend this week getting prepared before we officially reopen. Great! Here we go!”

According to the Sacramento Bee, Sacramento County will update the county health order this afternoon with newly-updated guidance from the administration on salons, religious gatherings, and retail stores.
On Friday, Governor Newsome announced that he was “days away” from announcing guidelines for moving further toward stage 3, including barbershops, salons, houses of worship, and gyms.
The guidelines to reopen gyms, movie theaters and large events have yet to be released.
