In Memory of Marc Allan Walter
May 7, 2020 Marc passed suddenly at age 60 at his home in Dunedin, FL.
He is survived by his mother Gaylene Walter, brother Barry Walter (Julie), sister Gwenn Padgett (Paul), his wife Dala. Adored father of Brandee Sherwill (Peter), Stephanie Rosenbaum (Sam), Donn Kittrell (Abigail). Beloved Papa to Autumn & Grant Petz, Caleb & Joel Sherwill. He will be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews, Nick (Andra) & Cole Fondersmith (Gabby), Chyenne Christensen (Jesse), Tiffany Brown (Sara), Wayne (Aria) & Richard Walter (US Navy). Great Nephews & Nieces Leo & Charlotte Fondersmith, Wesley Christensen, Chloe & Journey Brown. Preceded in death by his father Donald Walter.
Marc was born in Lyons, KS and graduated from Rio Linda High School, where he would go on to coach football for the Knights as well as the Rio Linda Falcons. He later coached at various high schools in Colorado. Marc loved coaching and watching football and was a diehard 49ers fan. His heart was and will always be with the 49ers.
Marc worked for Rio Linda Plumbing & Pump and the Rio Linda World newspaper, before embarking on a career as one of the best fire suppression design engineers in the country. He started his own company to allow him to travel and not be tied down to one coast. He worked on both the east and west coast, making friends everywhere and in between.
First and foremost, Marc was a Christian. He was very strong in his faith and guided us as a family. Everyone looked to Marc for faithful advice. He and his wife settled in Dunedin, FL, where he finally found the absolute joy of his life, his boat. He loved being out on the water. He also loved being a Papa. Marc enjoyed creating a backyard oasis for his kids and grandkids to visit at his new house. He had just drawn up plans for a pool to be put in. Being a Papa was very important to him, therefore a college fund for his grandchildren has been established.
Anyone wishing to send a donation to the fund in his name, can deposit at any Chase bank or mailed to Chase Bank 4117 Elverta Rd. Ste 101 Antelope CA 95843. Make payable to Brandee Sherwill, please note Sherwill Kids account on memo line. If you wish to make an electronic or cash donation or have questions please contact sherwillkidsfund@gmail.com
A graveside service was held on May 29th, 2020 in Seaside Oregon.
Editor’s note: We often say there is about 2 degrees of separation between any two people in Rio Linda and Elverta, and this is an example of that for me. Marc (and his father Don) were coaches with the Rio Linda Falcons and my junior varsity football years at Rio Linda High School. His sister Gwenn was a classmate at RLHS. Heartfelt condolences go out to his wife and children, and the entire Walter family.
