The Fifth Annual Rio Linda Elverta Christmas Light Parade is set to kick off right on schedule, this upcoming Saturday, December 12th at 6pm.
The Coordinator, Tabitha Worth, can not publicly say what streets the parade route will be runnning on, per the COVID-19 permit from Sacramento County Planning and Environmental Management Department.
Over the previous four years, There have been thousands of people lined up and down M Street, families from communities all over Northern California, so many people that there is no room for social distancing. And those crowds have gotten bigger every year. If the route were publicized it would be shared via social media many times over and it would get shut down before it could get started.
AND there’s every possibility that it could be cancelled if Sacramento County hits that 15% ICU cap before Saturday.
Check in will be on West Front Street near the Depot Building and the old Rio Linda Fire Department station at 6730 Front Street.
Participants must arrive no later than 5:30 pm. A map will be provided to participants at check-in. The route is not being announced to the public to help keep families from crowding the streets. It is expected that parade entries will toss candies to families in their yards and driveways.
