As of this morning, January 6, 2022, the Sacramento County Department of Public Health is recommending that businesses hold meetings remotely as the Omicron variant of COVID-19 spreads like wildfire over the entire state.
The department issued a new health order earlier this morning, requiring that all public meetings, including government meetings, are to be held virtually. The order is effective immediately.
Over the past 30 days, there has been an explosion in new cases of Covid-19 in Rio Linda and Elverta.

Sacramento County’s case rate reached an all-time high of 80.3 on January 4th. The region is seeing a seven-day average of 2,197 new cases per day — more than six times what it was mid-December.
In Sacramento County, hospitalizations from Covid-19 have nearly doubled over the past two weeks. The rise in hospitalizations comes as hospitals are already dealing with an increase in patients coming to the emergency room and needing treatment for other issues.
The new health order comes a day after the state extended its mask mandate.
