In an article published on March 1st, PC Magazine named Rio Linda as one of the best “Work-From-Home-Cities” for 2022.
For the second time since the pandemic began in March 2020, PC Magazine selected 40 US locations and 10 Canadian towns and focused on locations that weren’t far from major US cities such as San Francisco or Sacramento.
Rio Linda landed at #36 on the list of 50 locations, just behind Jackson, Tennesee, and ahead of Bath, New York.
Rio Linda is known for its relatively affordable housing, abundant wildlife, and outdoor recreation spots. Wild chickens occasionally scurry through neighborhood streets here.

Some of the criteria used in the evaluation are the availability of spacious homes, easy access to major airports, and availability of broadband internet. They also list the Sacramento Northern Bike Trail and Gibson Ranch as benefits.
PC Magazine says “San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, Washington, and Seattle all saw drops in people moving in, and increases in people moving out. Where were they going? Sacramento (near Rio Linda, #36) saw the most improvement in net move-ins last year, with moves from San Francisco County to Sacramento County increasing by 70%.”
The website quoted the median, moderate-sized home price of $435,684, the 10-mile proximity to Sacramento International Airport, and the affordable ($55) AT&T Fiber broadband internet access as its primary factors for including Rio Linda on the list.
