This Saturday, Metro Fire, the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), and the Sacramento region American Red Cross will partner to bring awareness and a proactive approach to fire safety, prevention, and education to our community by offering free smoke detector installations.
Recent fatal house fires in both North Highlands and Rio Linda have significantly impacted both the families and neighborhoods of the two individuals that passed away during the holiday season.
Metro Fire and its partners will spend time in those neighborhoods on Saturday to increase fire safety awareness and hopefully prevent a similar tragedy in the future.
The crews will meet in North Highlands, separate into teams, and go door to door offering fire safety educational materials and free smoke detector installations. This will take place on Saturday, January 21st, beginning at 9am in North Highlands (3681 David Drive), and continuing at 11am in Rio Linda (7225 Belcamp Street).
Coincidently, this takes place during Community Risk Reduction Week https://crrweek.org/, a week of service and risk prevention that starts annually on Dr. Martin Luther King Day.
