At the annual Virginia Tech Athletics Director’s Honors Breakfast held April 27, the athletics department recognized Dani Anderson from the VT softball team for being named the school’s ACC Female Scholar Athlete of the Year. Anderson, a senior from Rio Linda, Calif., will graduate in May with a degree in human nutrition, foods and exercise and then pursue a doctor of physical therapy degree at Sacramento State next fall.
At Rio Linda High School, Danielle lettered three times for Coach Robert Regpala. She was named all-conference three years … Helped lead her team to three straight league titles, hitting .394 her freshman year, .426 her sophomore and .379 as a junior … Won the scholar-athlete award her senior year and defensive standout award as a junior … Elected to run track as a senior, qualifying for the CVC finals … and was salutatorian of her class.
Dani is the daughter of Gene and Marcy Anderson … Majoring in human nutrition, foods and exercise and has been awarded an NCAA Women’s Enhancement Program Postgraduate Scholarship for Careers in Athletics.
