At approximately 10:30PM last night (June 15, 2014), the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department responded to the 100 block of Dolphin Way in Rio Linda, in response to a call of a shooting. When Deputies arrived, they encountered a 54-year old male had been shot. The shooting victim was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives responded to the scene and are currently conducting the investigation as to the motive and identity of the suspect(s) involved in the shooting.
The victim in the shooting has been tentatively identified to Rio Linda Online as Bill Stidman.
Someone close to the situation says the victim and his wife are foster parents. A female foster child had a boyfriend over. The boyfriend brought along a friend who was in another room with another girl. The victim was unaware of this. The victim confronted the boy to have him and his friend leave. The boyfriend’s friend shot the victim 3 times in the chest.
It’s my understanding that the shooter was already wanted in another case.
