I got a great phone call from Rio Linda Lions Club member Tabitha Worth this morning.
The Lions Club has been fundraising to replace the old, worn out “Welcome to Rio Linda” signs which used to sit at 16th and Elkhorn and Rio Linda Blvd. at Marysville Blvd. To date, the Lions have raised $4,000 for the first sign (16th Street). The estimated cost for each sign is $12,000
Earlier this week, our Sacramento County Supervisor, Roberta MacGlashan, donated $10,000 to the project.
The first sign is now fully funded and $2,000 will be banked for the second phase of the project.
Rio Linda is in the midst of a renaissance, it would seem. Consider the projects currently underway;
- Welcome to Rio Linda signs
- Archway lights
- Papa Murphy’s pizza
- Rio Pub (formerly 145 Club)
- Turning Point home
- Archway Auto Supply building
Projects in development include the Walgreen and Starbucks at Elkhorn and RLB, and the Century Palms business park on the southwest corner of the archway.
