Local organization “Ridership for the Masses” has reached out to the Rio Linda Visions Task Force and made us aware that Regional Transit has proposed cutting route 19 on Sundays and holidays.
RT has proposed the elimination of the #19 Route on Sundays. According to RT, they have a 15 rider per hour quotaon Sunday in order to maintain the route, however, the #19 has 14.9 riders per hour, falling short by 0.1 rider per hour. It is argued that by rounding up the number comes to 15.
There are major concerns if this route is eliminated on Sundays. Not only will people will be stranded when the route is taken away, there will also be no Paratransit service because there are no other routes within 3/4 of a mile from the existing route.
Ridership for the Masses are working to get the word out to the community in order for them to comment on this proposal. They are planning to ride the #19 on Sunday May 22, and Sunday June 5 to gather signatures in opposition of removing the route.
