A CHP cruiser was parked too closely to the UPRR train tracks just west of West 6th Street and was hit by a train Friday morning after the officer had stopped to investigate a separate incident.
The officer was uninjured, but the CHP vehicle was severely damaged.
The CHP traffic website shows the initial incident to be a Ford Mustang versus an SUV blocking the roadway with a person possibly trapped.
On the opposite side of the tracks, a big rig truck had become stuck on the extra large, recently installed center divide.
