Attention dog owners and dog lovers: Do you love to walk on the American River Parkway? Join fellow dog and nature lovers and sign up for the Howlin’ on the Parkway event, 8 a.m., Saturday, April 22 at the William B. Pond Recreation Area:
Registration is $25, and proceeds benefit the American River Parkway Foundation’s trail maintenance and Pups in the Park programs. Parkway Foundation staff and volunteers work year round to level out trails, mow grass and noxious weeds, cut back encroaching brush, replace vandalized signs and remove downed trees along 30+ miles of trail. The Foundation also provides “Mutt Mitt” dog waste removal bags at 14 stations to reduce the amount of dog waste along the Parkway and its effects on our waterways.
Attendees are welcome to dress their dogs up and enjoy a two-mile stroll along American River Parkway trails followed by an Earth Day celebration complete with a costume contest, a food truck, photo booth, vendors and more. Dress to impress Sacramento County Supervisor Susan Peters – one of our costume contest judges!
Also on hand will be volunteers from the Sacramento County Bradshaw Animal Shelter with adoptable dogs who are ready to go to their “furever” homes. The Parkway Foundation is offering $5 off the $25 Howlin’ registration fee for shelter supporters with the discount code “bradshaw5.”
For more information and registration, visit the American River Parkway Foundation’s Howlin’ on the Parkway webpage.
