I recently got communication from PG&E, informing us that they would be removing high voltage electrical towers that were no longer needed along Marysville Blvd. It was scheduld to start a couple of weeks ago, but it seems maybe the weather put them behind.
“At Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) our top priority is to provide you with safe, reliable, affordable and clean energy. As part of this commitment, we will be removing towers and the corresponding overhead electrical lines in your community. These towers and overhead lines are no longer needed to continue to provide you with reliable electric service. The removal of the towers and overhead lines is expected to improve views and beautify your community.
This work will take place throughout your community. We expect work to start in October and continue through January 2018. Weather and other factors that affect safe working conditions may change our schedule.
What you can expect
You may see PG&E and our contractor crews, vehicles and equipment. All personnel are required to carry valid photo identification and are happy to provide it upon request. The crews will also utilize large cranes and helicopters to perform this work. A helicopter landing zone has been safely secured as a staging area. To complete this work, we will use a helicopter to remove and transport the tower(s) in hard to reach locations. We will do our best to minimize the impact, but you may hear construction noise, heavy equipment and helicopters in your community.
We expect most of the work to take place during business hours Monday through Friday. However, it may be necessary for our crews to conduct work at night and in the evenings. If evening and night work is required, lighting may also be necessary to perform the work. We understand this work can be inconvenient. We will work to minimize inconveniences for our customers related to these activities.
Potential traffic impacts
If necessary, we will post “No Parking” signs at least 72 hours in advance of the work and route traffic around work areas. Public space such as roads, parks or trails scheduled to be impacted by the construction will be closed for public safety and signs will be posted prior to closure and during our work. Driveway access may be affected, but crews can provide access within a few minutes of a request. Please plan for minor delays if crews are working outside your home or business.”
