Amazon is planning to hire 3,000 additional employees in the Sacramento area as part of an effort to add 26,000 new employees throughout California.
The positions are varied and include logistics, fulfillment, and transportation. Wages will start at more than $18 per hour, said Amazon in a press release.
Amazon has hired 153,000 new employees in California since the fourth quarter of last year to serve its growing operations in the state, including over 60 new fulfillment and sorting centers, 50 delivery stations, Amazon Fresh grocery stores, and Whole Foods Market locations.
The largest Amazon building in Sacramento currently is the recently completed 1.3 million-square-foot distribution center at Metro Air Park, just west of Rio Linda near Sacramento International Airport. Amazon opened an 850,000-square-foot fulfillment center at Metro Air Park just four years ago. Amazon also has a warehouse at Sacramento International Airport.
Amazon already employs around 8,000 people in the area.
Amazon offers full-time employees benefits including health, vision, and dental insurance, a 401(k) retirement savings plan with a 50% company match, and up to 20 weeks of paid parental leave.
