The Amgen Tour of California bicycle race came through Rio Linda on Monday, and I went to the corner of Elkhorn and East Levee to see the riders pass.
It was interesting, but the bikes were really moving so it was a very brief visit to our berg. I got there at around 2:30, and by 3:15 I felt the breeze of some 139 riders blasting by.
Thanks to Youtube user Deratristar for this great video from Elverta and East Levee rd.

The weather held off until they made it to the black cloud that ‘s been over Downtown Sacramento for a few years now. After three adrenalin-pumping circuits through the rain soaked streets of downtown Sacramento, Ben Swift of Sky Procycling won the stage and became the overall race leader.
Maybe next year we can lobby the Amgen Tour to send the peleton down M street in Rio Linda. I have no doubt that crowds would come out in droves, and it would be great for Rio Linda business, as well as providing international coverage.
