A tragic motorcycle fatality unfolded in Antelope on June 16 when a vehicle turned directly into the path of an oncoming motorcycle. The accident took place in the evening hours along southbound Walerga Road near Elverta Road. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a motorcycle rider was traveling south on Walerga Road when the driver of a Mazda attempted to enter the parking lot at WinCo Foods.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the incident occurred around 8:18 p.m. when 39-year-old Jason Nathaniel Porter collided with a Mazda making a left turn from northbound Elverta Road. The motorcyclist, traveling southbound on Walerga Road, crashed into the vehicle in a T-bone fashion.
The collision resulted in the rider’s demise at the scene. CHP traffic investigators temporarily closed the southbound lanes of Walerga Road between Shandwick Drive and Elverta Road while they conducted a thorough examination. The driver of the Mazda remained present at the scene throughout the investigation.
Regrettably, Porter sustained severe injuries and succumbed to them at the scene, as confirmed by the CHP. The driver of the Mazda remained present at the location and cooperated fully with law enforcement officials during their investigation.
As of now, the official cause of the crash remains unknown, prompting traffic investigators to delve into the details further. The CHP urges any witnesses with information about the incident to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation by contacting them.
