With the completion of this project, RLECWD will have sufficient water reserves and source capacity to allow the California Department of Public Health to lift the connection moratorium that’s been in place since 2007.
That’s seven years of restricted growth within our community, about to come to an end. The largest of the projects that have been stalled is the Elverta Specific Plan (Elverta Village) which will place some 5,000 new homes and 12,000 new people on 1,740 acres centered on Elverta Road and 16th Street. At build-out, the project will effectively double the number of water connections in the water district.
With other stalled infill projects moving forward, the population of Rio Linda and Elverta could double over the next 5 years.
The next Rio Linda Elverta Community Planning Advisory Council meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 28th, 7pm at the Rio Linda Depot building.
