And finally, Saturday night at 6pm, the community of Rio Linda and Elverta will celebrate the holiday season with the 3rd Annual Rio Linda Elverta Christmas Light Parade.
In just two years, this event has quickly become the largest and most anticipated single-day event in the Rio Linda Elverta community, with thousands of excited parade viewers from throughout Northern California lining M Street in historic downtown Rio Linda, to see the nearly 100 parade entries.
As in previous years, the parade will feature first responders, marching bands, equestrians, custom cars, parade floats and a visit from Santa himself, driving his unique, cherry red 32 Ford hot rod “sleigh”. All of them, from band members to horses to parade floats and marching dogs will be lit with Christmas lights.
Sacramento County District 4 Supervisor Sue Frost will lead the parade riding in “Old Betsy”, the Rio Linda Fire Department’s very first fire truck.
Sacramento’s Christmas Music Station, Mix96, will provide the holiday music, and our parade judges include Mix96 DJ Marilyn Nelson, and Good Day Sacramento legal analyst Craig Ashton & Ed Schade from Ashton & Price.
After the parade, we will gather at the judges location at Depot Park to light the community Christmas Tree, and hand out the awards for the parade and the home/business Christmas Light contest.
The Rio Linda Elverta Christmas Light parade is presented by the Rio Linda Elverta Country Faire, Rio Linda Elverta Visions, and the Rio Linda Lions Club.
