Yuba County, CA (September 2, 2024) – A head-on collision on Highway 70 in Yuba County has resulted in a tragic loss of life and serious injuries. The incident occurred Monday morning and involved a suspected DUI driver.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a white Buick sedan driven by Alannah Eastern, 19, of Elk Grove, was traveling the wrong way on Highway 70. The Buick collided head-on with a silver Toyota SUV traveling in the correct direction.
The driver of the Toyota SUV, whose identity has not been released, was fatally injured in the crash. A passenger in the Toyota, Dorcas Gramajo-Cabrera, 28, of Marysville, was transported to Adventist Health/Rideout Hospital with major injuries. Another passenger, Athena Hernandez Black, 19, of Elverta, was also injured and taken to the hospital.
Alannah Eastern, the driver of the Buick, was injured and faces multiple charges, including gross vehicular manslaughter and felony DUI causing injury.
The California Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the incident.
