Paul Vincent Rice of Emmett, Idaho, passed away peacefully from natural causes on November 24, 2024, at the age of 71. Born in 1953 in Richmond, California, to William E. and Betty J. Rice, Paul was raised in Rio Linda, California, alongside his brother Billy.
After graduating from Rio Linda High School, Paul married his high school sweetheart and had two sons, Shane and Brandon. Throughout his life, Paul was married four times, with his last marriage being to Roberta Rice, with whom he raised stepsons Robbie and Casey in Emmett. He was a dedicated father and grandfather, leaving behind two grandsons, Erik and Declan, and a granddaughter, Dahlia.
Paul worked in residential construction for his entire career. In 1994, he moved to Emmett to build his home and established Rice Brothers Construction with his brother Billy. The business flourished for over 30 years, contributing to Emmett’s growth and development.
Known for his generous nature, Paul was always quick to lend a helping hand or offer a heartfelt hug. He was a well-known figure in the Emmett community, particularly at Banducci’s coffee shop, where his booming voice and vibrant personality made him a beloved presence. Paul’s kindness and larger-than-life character left a lasting impact on everyone he met.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his brother Billy (Linda) Rice, sons Shane (Melisa) Rice and Brandon (DeAnna) Rice, grandchildren Erik, Declan, and Dahlia, as well as his niece, Shannon (Addy and Steven), nephew Kenny (Effie, Kenny, and Michaela), and his former stepsons Robbie and Casey.
A memorial service will be held in the spring of 2025. The family will announce the date and location when finalized. Arrangements are being handled by Potter Funeral Chapel.
Paul will be missed by all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the Emmett community.
