Today at approximately 7:20 am, The California Highway Patrol received a call of a collision involving a Sports Utility Vehicle and a sedan in the area of West Elkhorn Boulevard, west of SR-99.
CHP officers responded to the collision scene and learned that a 47-year old female out of Sacramento, was driving a Toyota 4-Runner in the eastbound lane of traffic and a 33-year old male out of Elk Grove, was driving a Volvo S60 in the westbound lane of traffic.
For reasons still under investigation, the Volvo S60 traveled into the eastbound lane of traffic and collided with the Toyota 4-Runner.
Sacramento City Fire Department arrived on scene shortly after the collision. However, the 33-year old male driver of the Volvo S60 succumbed to his injuries at 7:36 am. The 47-year old female driver of the Toyota 4-Runner suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation at this time.
