Rio Linda, CA – The future of the massive Grandpark development project is facing uncertainty due to a dispute between its key developers.
According to recent correspondence between project partners, Brookfield Residential and Compass Land Group, disagreements over cost-sharing have arisen, potentially hindering the project’s progress.
Brookfield Residential, a major player in the project, has expressed its commitment to Grandpark but has requested a pause in county processing while the dispute is resolved. Meanwhile, Compass Land Group has raised concerns about Brookfield’s failure to meet financial obligations.
The Grandpark project, located northeast of the Highway 99 and Elkhorn Boulevard intersection, has previously been seen as the “City of Rio Linda” growth expansion area. In previous incorporation plans, “Grandpark” or West Rio Linda, has been included as part of any newly created City of Rio Linda. With no expansion area for growth, Rio Linda incorporation plans are all but dead.
Grandpark has been in the works for over two decades. It envisions a mixed-use development with residential, commercial, and extensive open space components.
While the project has faced numerous hurdles over the years, this latest dispute could further delay its timeline. Local stakeholders and residents are closely monitoring the situation, hoping for a resolution that will allow the project to move forward.
