Two legendary football programs will face each other this Friday to decide the Sac-Joaquin Section Division 3 title. The 9-2 Grant Pacers will meet the 10-2 Christian Brothers Falcons on Friday, November 25th at Hughes Stadium. The game time is 1pm.
The Pacers played a challenging schedule this season, traveling to Reno and to Patterson, and playing annual standouts like Inderkum and Monterey Trail.
The #3 seeded Pacers opened the playoffs by topping Yuba City at home, 64-28. This past week the squad made the long drive to Patterson, where they upset and dominated the #2 seed, Patterson High School, 80-45.
The #4 Christian Brothers Falcons opened the season slow, earning a 2-2 record over the first four games. Since then, they have racked up eight straight wins. In fact, their last loss was the Holy Bowl, losing to the Jesuit High powerhouse, 21-7.
Grant QB Joseph McCray has thrown for over 2400 yards and is averaging 19.4 yards per pass, with 34 touchdowns. Most of those touchdowns have been launched in the direction of WR Kingston Lopa and WR Kyrell Goss-Pruitt, who have combined for 24 scores this season and nearly 1400 yards.
Running back Joshua Hamilton keeps the defenses honest with his 409 yards and 7 touchdowns.
The Division 3 Grant Vs. Christian Brothers game will kick off at 1pm. That will be followed by the Division 1 finale at 6pm, when the perennial #1 seed, Folsom High School, takes on #3 Oak Ridge.
