Rio Linda Elverta Historical Society President and RLE Water District Board Member Jason Green has Worked all summer to produce the greatest pumpkin Rio Linda may have ever seen.
Tomorrow morning, Jason and the RL Grange will move his 600+ pound beast to be entered in this weekend’s Elk Grove Giant Pumpkin Festival. This could be the largest pumpkin ever grown in Rio Linda. Tomorrow morning at 9am, it will be lifted by a tractor onto Jason’s truck for transport to Elk Grove. Supervisor Sue Frost will be there along with dozens of local kids.
At the Elk Grove Pumpkin Festival, giant pumpkin growers from all over California and beyond will be vying for the top prize – and perhaps a world record – as each of their enormous gourds hit the scale on Saturday morning. Each of them will enter their own produce or pumpkins for a chance to win cash prizes.
Come cheer from the stands as the monstrous orange orbs are moved with a forklift to a special scale.
