At 9pm on Monday, June 14, the California Highway Patrol logged a traffic accident at Elkhorn Blvd and Dry Creek Road. Upon arrival, a BMW 323i was found to have impacted and downed the Rio Linda High School crosswalk signal light on the stadium side of the street.
Witnesses report that the BMW was racing a Dodge Charger at a high rate when the driver of the BMW lost control.
CHP reported that the accident was fatal.

On June 14, 2021, at approximately 9:00 PM, North Sacramento CHP Area units were dispatched to a call of a collision that occurred in the area of Elkhorn Boulevard west of Dry Creek Road.
Upon arrival on scene, units discovered a 24-year-old male from Sacramento was driving a white BMW 323i on Elkhorn Boulevard westbound.
For reasons still under investigation, the driver of the BMW lost control of the vehicle, traveled off the roadway, and collided with a pole.
The 24-year-old male was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision by emergency medical personnel.
The cause is still under investigation and it is still unknown whether alcohol and/or drug intoxication was suspected of the driver involved in the collision.
