On Tuesday, Judge Susan Green of Sutter County Superior Court declared a hung jury in the trial of a Rio Linda man charged in the death of a 21-year-old Roseville motorcyclist.
Zachary Becker of Rio Linda was on trial for gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated in a July 2018 collision. Noe Ayala was killed because of Becker’s alleged actions. Becker was also charged with DUI causing death, and child endangerment.
According to RLM records, In July 2018, Becker was traveling east on Riego Road and allowed his 2003 GMC to drift into the westbound lane and directly into the path of Ayala, who was riding a 2003 Yamaha motorcycle. Becker’s vehicle collided with Ayala’s motorcycle. Ayala was pronounced dead at the scene. Becker and his three passengers, including two children under 10, were not injured.
The parties will be back in court on July 19 to set a retrial date, according to Sutter County Superior Court Records.
