David Dwight Gibson, long time resident of Rio Linda, California, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at his home. He was 52 years of age.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 19, 2015 from 5:00-8:00 pm at North Sacramento Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 10:00 am at North Sacramento Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sunset Lawn Chapel of the Chimes.
David was born December 3, 1962 in Sacramento, California to Duane and Ruth Gibson. He graduated from Rio Linda High School in 1981.
He moved to Colorado in September of 1981 where he met the love of his life, Melissa Lewis. They were then wed on May 7, 1982 and were married happily ever after for 33 1/2 years. This union was blessed with six children: Alexis, Joshua, Zachary, Heather, Jedidiah, and Nathanael.
David and Melissa lived in Colorado for 1 1/2 years until they returned to David’s home town of Rio Linda, California where they resided until he passed from this life.
All of his career he worked as a cabinet maker and he owned and operated D&G Cabinets of Rio Linda, California.
David was a very kind and caring man and enjoyed helping others in many ways in their time of need. He loved to laugh, had a great sense of humor and could be very ornery. He also enjoyed golfing, traveling, and spending time with his seven grandsons. Some of his favorite travels were Disneyland trips, cruises, trips to Mexico, Hawaii, and numerous trips to Colorado and Oklahoma to see family and friends. He was known to carry around a large glass of ice tea everywhere he went and loved to watch his big screen television.
David is survived by his wife, Melissa Gibson of Rio Linda, California; one daughter, Alexis Keller and husband, Jeff of Sacramento, California, four sons, Joshua Gibson and wife Malea of Rio Linda, California; Zachary Gibson and wife Rebecca of Sacramento, California, Jedidiah Gibson and wife Lacey of Sacramento, California, Nathanael Gibson of Rio Linda, California and fiancée Andrea Wittman of Hobbs, New Mexico, seven Grandsons; Dillon, Logan, Camden and Jaxon Keller, Gavyn, Harley and Callyn Gibson, and one grandchild on the way. Three brothers, four sisters and a host of nephews, nieces, brethren & friends.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Heather Nicole Gibson; Father, Duane Gibson; Mother, Ruth Gibson, Brother, Randy Gibson and Sister, Terri Gibson.
