Richard Alvin Gladden, “Big Al”
Born May 6, 1950 in Sacramento, CA, passed away on July 26, 2015 at the age of 65.
Al is survived by his Mother, Rose; Brothers, Calvin (Rosalie) and Raymond (Angela); Sons, Clayton (Theresa), Charles (Audi), and Mitchell (Christina); Daughter, Angel (David); Grandchildren, Dylan, Tegan, Bella, Jennifer, Addyson, Ryder, Justice, and Charlie; Nephews, Eric and Anthony; Nieces, Miranda, Heather, and Andrea; many children who knew him as “Dad”; many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, other nieces and nephews and ever so many friends and extended family members. He is preceded in death by his two Sisters, Ann and Barbara; his Father, Charles, and his Nephew, Christopher.
Al grew up in the Rio Linda area and lived there his entire life. He graduated from Rio Linda High School and was drafted by the Army where he served in the Vietnam War as an Air Borne Ranger as an E5 (Sergeant). After the Army he worked as a Certified Welder.
Al’s life centered around his family. Other passions in life included Raider football; Harley Davidson motorcycles; fishing; collecting antique knives and swords; and just being with his family and friends.
A viewing will be held on Friday July 31, 2015, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Sunset Lawn-Chapel of Chimes, 4701 Marysville Blvd., Sacramento, CA.
Funeral services to be held on Saturday August 1, 2015 at 10:00am, at Sunset Lawn-Chapel of Chimes, 4701 Marysville Blvd., Sacramento, CA. A graveside committal service will immediately follow the services.
The family invites you to a Potluck Celebration of Al’s Life at The American Legion Hall in Rio Linda, 6700 8th St, immediately following graveside services.
