Let’s not make any excuses here; The Rio Linda Knights lost under the Friday night lights to a bigger and faster Roseville Tigers team.
Roseville High’s two senior running backs, Razzano and McMinn scored six touchdowns in a 42-23 romp that elevated the Tigers to 2-0, and saw the Knights fall to 0-2 on the young season.
The game was within reach of the Knights at halftime with a score of 21-7, but the Tigers pushed the score up to 35-7 after three quarters.
The Knights mounted a comeback in the fourth quarter, scoring on back-to-back drives with two deep passes. Along with recovering an onside kick, the hometown crowd came to life.
However, once the Roseville team took possession, they didn’t let off the throttle, and pushed ahead adding a touchdown and moving the final score to 42-23.
Junior QB Jett Jones went 10 for 20 with 150 yards and 3 touchdowns. Jones and RB Eric Williams ran 31 times totalling 83 yards.
Senior WR Isiah Maun caught 6 passes for 128 yard and 3 touchdowns.
