The Rio Linda Knights Football Club handed the hapless Cordova Lancers their third straight loss to open the season, while the Knights improved to 2-1 in non-league play.
When the Lancers scored first and then delivered a Safety within the first 6 minutes of the game, fans were wondering which Knights team showed up for this game. As the game went on, the Knights came alive and delivered 34 points during the first half, including a run of 28 unanswered points up until Cordova scored again in the second quarter.
It was an entertaining game, with tipped and intercepted passes on both sides of the ball being the rule, rather than exception.
Each team would score again in the third frame, but that would do it for the scorekeeper- Knights 41 – Lancers 21
The Knights have a week off before they take on Foothill at Foothill High School on Friday, September 15th. Game time is 7pm.
