Hang on… lots of little things here…
- Homeward Bound Golden Retriever Rescue in Elverta needs help because it has too many dogs at its shelter. As a result of the housing crisis, poor job market and fires in Southern California, officials say kennels that comfortably hold 34 dogs now are housing more than 50 dogs. Assistance is sought in caring for the dogs, which need to be fed twice a day. Volunteers also are needed to walk the dogs, and help socialize and train them to make them more adoptable. Foster homes also are sought.
Without help, Homeward Bound officials say they may have to turn away dogs.
To help, call (916) 655-1410, send an email to jjsgoldens@homewardboundgoldens.org or visit www.homewardboundgoldens.org - The recent LAFCo meeting was doozie. If you missed it, I encourage you to grab a copy from the Rio Linda Library. To check out availability, call the Central Library at (916) 264-2920. Tapes are kept in the library system for approximately 60 days and are then recycled. If the tape is no longer available from the Library, call the LAFCo Clerk for information about availability and how to obtain meeting records.
- Yes, there is a rate increase planned for the water district. This is a MUCH NEEDED increase in order to secure the $7.5m State loan that will allow us to get to work on new wells. As much as I hate to pay a larger water bill, keep in mind that this increase will be much less than the potential increase should the district enter receivership. Please disregard anyone who might be going door to door asking you to sign a petition against the increase. These are the same people that got us into this mess! Listen to them at your own peril!
- Helicopter Crash in Elverta; Good to hear that no-one was hurt too badly in the chopper crash at Elverta and Sorento Roads. It could have been much, much worse. It looks like difficult and challenging work. See the YouTube video below! Crazy!
