On September 7, 2019 at approximately 2:53 am, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) received reports of a traffic collision, in the area of “M” Street and 6th Street, in the Heritage Park Charter School parking lot. CHP Officers arrived on scene and discovered that a 17-year old young man was riding a motorcycle in a dirt field during hours of darkness. The motorcycle was not equipped with a headlight. The motorcyclist collided with a metal “hitching post” that was in the field and the rider was fully ejected from the motorcycle and onto the asphalt parking lot of the school. The rider, who was not wearing a motorcycle helmet, sustained major head trauma and was pronounced dead at the collision scene by the Sacramento Metro Fire Department at 3:02 am.
The cause of this collision is under investigation. Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in this collision. No other persons were involved in this collision.
