The 2023 edition of Rio Linda’s National Night Out event was a great event. We had one of the biggest attendances we’ve seen in some time, and we had many Rio Linda and Elverta organizations helping out, serving potato salad, cooking hot dogs, and sno-cones, and educating the community on what they do.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.
Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all fifty states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August. Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts, and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits, and much, much more.
We had first responders from many organizations come by and take part- Sacramento County Sheriff Youth Services, Twin Rivers PD, Metro Fire, and Fulton El Camino Park Police all participated, and the kids loved every minute.
Our Sacramento County Supervisor Sue Frost was there for well over an hour. We appreciate her time and attention so much, especially knowing that this was her penultimate NNO event.
Big thanks to Stacey Bastian of the Rio Linda Elverta Neighborhood Association and Rio Linda Elverta Chamber of Commerce for putting it all together, and thanks to all of the other organizations that helped out.
Also, thank you to ViAnn Todd of RioLindaOnline.com for all of the photos.
Start planning now, because the 2024 National Night Out should happen on Tuesday, August 6th, 2024.
