Dangerous Heat Possible Over the Weekend.
A heating trend is expected for the rest of this week. A prolonged period of triple-digit heat is possible late this week into next week for the Central Valley, foothills, and Delta. The weekend is expected to be very hot, with highs 103-107 across the Valley. There will be moderate to very high heat risk during this time, which could impact the general population, especially those who will be spending an extended time outdoors.
EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SUNDAY EVENING
Dangerously hot conditions with afternoon highs between 100 and 107 for the Valley and between 95 to 103 for the foothills and Delta.Central and Southern Sacramento Valley, Delta, Northern San Joaquin Valley and Motherlode Counties will be affected from Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening.
Heat related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke can occur due to prolonged exposure to hot temperatures, even to the general population. People most vulnerable include those who spend lots of time outdoors, those without air conditioning, young children, the elderly and those with chronic illness.
