In order to meet the new target usage requirements set by the Governor’s water conservation act, the Rio Linda Elverta Community Water District has issued new water conservation guidelines.
Section 8 – Water Conservation Stage 3
Lawns and/or ground covers may be watered and landscaping/pastures may be irrigated, including construction meter irrigation, only during the following designated hours and designated days:
ODD: Saturdays and Wednesdays EVEN: Sundays and Thursdays NO Watering 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- No person shall allow water to leave his or her property by drainage onto adjacent properties or public or private roadways or streets due to excessive irrigation and/or uncorrected leaks.
- All plumbing leaks shall be corrected to the satisfaction of the District.
- No person shall use water to wash down sidewalks, driveways, parking areas, tennis courts, patios or other paved areas, except to alleviate immediate safety or sanitation hazards.
- Open hoses shall be equipped with an automatic, positive shut-off nozzle.
- The overfilling of swimming pools and spas is prohibited. The filling or refilling of ponds, streams, and artificial lakes is prohibited and all to be equipped with re-circulating pumps.
- Washing of motor vehicle, trucks, trailers, boats, and other types of mobile equipment is permitted at any time with a hand-held bucket or a hand-held hose equipped with an automatic positive shut-off nozzle only on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays.
- Water customers shall read their water meters each week to monitor their water consumption.
- Restaurants serve water only on request
