Gerald “Gerry” Wade Privett was born March 7, 1963 in National City, CA to Glenn and Judy Privett. Gerry passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 6, 2023. He is preceded in death and now reunited with his mother, nephew Michael and cousin Sammy Sue, along with other members of the family. He is survived by his loving wife, Misty, father Glenn, son Glenn, grandchildren Riley and Joslyn, siblings Kimberly (Steve), Glenn II (Cathy) and will be deeply missed by his nieces and nephews.
Gerry attended Grant High School and left to pursue his passion of being a mechanic, which he loved working on cars until he sustained an injury to his hand that ultimately robbed him of doing what he loved. He then went on to work with the family moving houses and eventually found his way when he got on with and became a proud member of Teamsters Local 70 out of Oakland, CA. He loved working & transporting for Bigge Crane & Rigging. If you were to ask Gerry what he does he would say, “I help move really big cool shit!”.
Gerry loved the annual camping trips, clam chowder cook-offs and simply spending time with family and friends, fishing, riding his motorcycle and in his latest adventure cheering on his wife and grandchildren while they raced BMX bikes. In August he was able to travel and support his wife Misty and granddaughter JoJo as they competed in Glasgow, Scotland in the BMX World Championship.
If you knew Gerry for any amount of time, you knew his infectious smile and laughter. No matter what animated story he may have been telling, you couldn’t help but smile and laugh with him. He was a wonderful man and a joy to be around. He loved with every fiber of his being and lit up every room he entered. He was the sweetest man that loved and accepted everyone and would give the shirt off his back and would always say he was just a phone call away and he was!
Gerry will be deeply missed by the abundance of family, friends and loved ones that knew him. We will cherish and treasure all the memories.
