On November 25, 2020 at approximately 3:19 PM, North Sacramento CHP Area units were dispatched to a call of a collision on West Elverta Road just east of Garden Highway.
Upon arrival to the scene, units discovered a Hyundai Sonata (driven by a 41-year old male from Woodland) was involved in a collision with a Yamaha Sportster motorcycle (ridden by a 64-year old female from Sacramento) and a Harley Davidson Street Glide motorcycle (ridden by a 51-year old male from Roseville).
Upon initial investigation, units determined the Hyundai Sonata was traveling on West Elverta Road, approaching Garden Highway, in the westbound lane, as the Yamaha Sportster and Harley Davidson Street Glide were traveling on West Elverta Road in the eastbound lane of travel.
For reasons still under investigation, the Hyundai Sonata traveled into the eastbound lane of travel and struck the left side of the Yamaha Sportster and its rider. After colliding with the Yamaha Sportster, the Hyundai Sonata continued in the eastbound lane and the front of the Sonata struck the front of the Harley Davidson Street Glide.
Emergency medical personnel arrived and transported the 64-year old female to a nearby hospital. However, the rider of the Harley Davidson Street Glide immediately succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the collision.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation and it is unknown whether drugs were contributing factors.
