FLASH MOB – Rio Linda Centennial Mural Unveiling – Meet the Artists
“As the 100th birthday, yes, the big century mark, for the Rio Linda area looms into 2012, residents and visitors are greeted with a glorious splash of colorful memories. The olde merges pleasantly with the present via a mural of the varied decades,” states Carol Orr, Centennial Committee Member.
The Rio Linda Centennial Committee wishes to recognize the efforts of the Artists responsible for the beautiful Centennial Mural in downtown Rio Linda. Artists Sharon King, Randy Aeschliman and Joe Vigil, along with countless others, ranging in age from 6 to over 70, volunteered hundreds of hours in labor to complete the mural.
“We can’t let their efforts go unrecognized,” states Mike Grandinetti, Centennial Committee Facilitator. “The humble artists refused any grand ceremonies so we’ve decided to recognize them in a more casual fashion.”
The Centennial Committee is encouraging community members to “Flash Mob” local business, Tummy’s Sub Shop, located just down the block from the historic mural. The Artists will be available at the small town deli to meet and greet admirers of their work.
