Rio Linda Food Closet to Open Homeless Warming Center

On January 13th 2017, The Rio Linda Food Closet will open a warming center for the Rio Linda and Elverta Homeless population at the old Southern Baptist church, 6420 Rio Linda Blvd.

It will be open on nights in which the temperature is expected to go below 40 degrees. Check-in will take place at 5:30 p.m. with a check-out time of 8 a.m. the following morning.

Volunteers are needed to assist at the Warming Center from 5:00 p.m. to 8 a.m. through the winter months.

Those interested in volunteering should contact:

  • Brenda Conover 530-228-5526
  • Bev Ward 916-204-4047
  • Catherine Green 916-717-3265

There will be one male and one female attendant present at all times.

It would also be helpful for volunteers to assist in fixing meals for the evening if you cannot volunteer your time at the Warming Center.
