The ribbon cutting and dedication for the long-awaited Rio Linda High School Baseball and Softball complex is now scheduled for Friday, August 11th at 8am.
The entire community has had their eyes on this project’s progress, as the unusually heavy winter rains brought the construction to a halt and continued to push the completion date target further back with every storm.
We toured the completed ballparks in early July along with Twin Rivers facilities Director Mark Storace and Chief Business Official Ryan DiGiulio, TRUSD Trustees Stacy Bastian and Michael Baker, newly minted RLHS principal Diedre Barlow, Baseball Head Coach Joe Geer, Coaches Joshua Beebe, and Brian Gross, and Softball Head Coach Steve Burton.
The new ballparks are no longer grass and dirt- they are constructed of a new turf surface that wears hard and looks great. The entire complex has been reconstructed, with new bullpens, batting cages and student-athlete lockers behind each home dugout.
Both fields are now lighted for night games.
In addition, there is seating for about 250 on each field, and brand-new concessions, ticketing and restroom facilities.
