As the only Sacramento-area school recognized, this inaugural award honors schools throughout the state that provide students with opportunities to earn college credit while in high school
Sacramento, CA – Twin Rivers Unified School District is proud to announce that Rio Linda High School is one of nine high schools throughout California, and the only school in the Sacramento region, to be named a California Exemplary Dual Enrollment School for the 2022-23 school year. The newly created award recognizes schools that provide students with opportunities to enroll in and earn college credits while in high school.

The Exemplary Dual Enrollment Award program encourages all California schools to strengthen and expand their dual enrollment offerings, particularly focusing on the inclusion of students of color, socioeconomically disadvantaged students, and students who are the first in their families to attend college. The dual enrollment programs at winning schools like Rio Linda High had to mirror the student
population, include underserved populations, and make progress toward more equitable participation and outcomes.
The California Department of Education stated they plan to make the Exemplary Dual Enrollment Award an annual recognition program.
Rio Linda High School and the other eight schools recognized as an awardee will hold the title for two years.
Twin Rivers Unified School District, Rio Linda High School, and American River College will continue to build collaborative relationships among high schools, colleges, families, community members, and industry partners to provide students with the best possible educational experiences.
