FARGO, N.D. —

Authorities say a man accused of stealing money from a California post office has been living in a Fargo motel for two months.

A federal complaint charges 25-year-old Denis Tyannikov with stealing more than $10,000 while he worked as a window clerk at the Rio Linda, Calif., post office.

Authorities say Tyannikov fled after he was told by police on Sept. 1 that the case would be referred to prosecutors. He allegedly received mail in Fargo in September and October.

Tyannikov made his initial appearance in federal court in Fargo on Thursday.
